Canterbury Mens : 29th March
The Canterbury Champs was held in a single day in pretty good surf at Gore Bay. Again the cadets were showing their ability by making it through to the open final and semi finals. Taking it out for the second year running was Levi O'Connor. It was a close final with Hayden Brain having to be content with the second to go with his Senior and Masters titles. Harrison Whitside was third in the Open to go with his wins in the Juniors and Cadets divisions. Current SISA Open champ Josh Thickpenny rounded out the final finishing fourth.
Canterbury Womens : 15th March, 5th & 12th April
It took three weekends but the Canterbury Womens Surf champs were completed in nice 2-3 ft off shore conditions at New Brighton. There were a record 65 entries in the event, including a very strong field in the Tweenie Wahines division. Kristi Zarifeh took out the Open division
New Brighton turned on some great waves for this contest with nice 3ft offshore conditions for most of the event. There were some really close competitive surfing with all of the finals going to the wire.
